Nutrien Wonderhub is thrilled to announce the completion of the KidApproved Capital Campaign thanks to a gift of $250,000 from our Honorary Campaign Chairs, Les and Irene Dubé. Through their charitable leadership and community involvement with a variety of educational and community service organizations, Leslie and Irene have long been inspiring examples of philanthropy.
Both Les and Irene were born in Saskatchewan and have deep ties to the province through their entrepreneurial enterprises as well as their family connections. They attribute their success to hard work and being socially conscious, but agree their greatest achievement is the ability and privilege to give back to a community that has given them so much.
That Nutrien Wonderhub’s design supports intergenerational play and independent discovery spoke to Leslie and Irene, as the pair place great value and importance on interpersonal connections. They both love that Nutrien Wonderhub is a safe space for children of all backgrounds and abilities to explore, experiment, and interact with the natural and built world.
Nutrien Wonderhub will recognize the Dubés’ generous gift at the North Woods exhibit, a space that truly encapsulates northern Saskatchewan. The exhibit is surrounded by trees and features a log cabin children can help construct as well as a lake complete with boat. Nested inside the North Woods is the Gathering Place; here, children and their adults will enjoy an immersive storytelling experience that encourages sharing and role-playing.
“We are honored to be a part of showcasing the diversity of our province by bringing the experience of the North into Nutrien Wonderhub,” shares Leslie. “The idea that every child coming through the doors will feel welcome and see something that they can relate to is important to us.”
The staff and volunteers at Nutrien Wonderhub would like to thank Leslie and Irene Dubé not only for their generous donation of $250,000, but for their leadership as Honorary Campaign Chairs. The closing of our KidApproved Capital Campaign is an important step towards welcoming guests through our museum doors and into a place of discovery, imagination and exploration.
“As Honorary Chairs, we want to thank the community for the support they have shown to Nutrien Wonderhub. We feel grateful to be a part of encouraging curiosity and creativity in the next generation,” says Irene.
Thank you, Leslie and Irene Dubé, for your generous donation of $250,000!
